American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the nation’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators, is looking to hire a tech-savvy Digital Media Specialist. Qualified candidates for this newly created role in ALEC’s Policy Department will work directly with the Director of Policy Advancement and Media Relations to create media material for various media platforms such as the web, social media and blogs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Composing, editing and posting online content for the organization’s social media pages and website
  • Working closely with senior management to develop a strategy for integrated media campaigns
  • Scheduling placement of content on digital media platforms
  • Improving brand awareness using digital media channels such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Writing content for search engine optimization
  • Ensuring brand consistency across all digital media channels
  • Keeping digital library up-to-date
  • Monitoring impact and return on investment of digital marketing campaigns
  • Remaining up-to-date with the latest digital media trends and design technology available

The right candidate must be an innovative problem-solver and a self-starter who is able to manage multiple concurrent projects within a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have superb organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to diplomatically prioritize demands. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the ALEC mission of promoting limited government, free markets and federalism.

All qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in digital media, marketing or related field and a minimum of two years of experience in a similar role. He/she should have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Solid knowledge of design and editing programs such as WordPress, Canva, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, or other video editing software. Additionally, knowledge of web design and content management systems and latest media trends are preferred.

Educational Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree

Travel is required (10%)

Start date: Immediate

This is not a remote position. Must be able to work from the ALEC office on a hybrid schedule.
