Manager – Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the nation’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators, is seeking to hire a Task Force Manager for the Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force. The Policy Manager will report to the Senior Task Force Director, serving as policy expert and point of contact on issues related to energy, environment, and agriculture for ALEC members, staff, and the media.
To succeed in the role, you must be detail-oriented, customer-service oriented, a self-starter, and work well under pressure. Qualified candidates will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must demonstrate a strong commitment to ALEC’s mission of promoting the Jeffersonian principles of limited government, free markets, and federalism.
Essential functions for the role include:
- Detailed state and federal legislation tracking
- Drafting timely commentary, op-eds, research publications, and written analysis
- Managing task force logistics, administrative responsibilities, and special projects
- Planning and executing in-person task force meetings, legislator academies, issue briefings, and other educational programming
- Policy research and summation
- Attending coalition meetings and policy events as needed
Core Requirements:
- Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience, preferably in energy, environment, or agriculture policy. Previous policy research and media experience is helpful.
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree; graduate level degree is preferred.
- Some travel is required (10-15%)
