ALEC-FreedomWorks Legislator of the Week

Senator Kris Langer is a native South Dakotan and was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She received her B.S. from South Dakota State University. Outside of her work in the legislature, Sen. Langer works as a Broker Associate at Keller Williams Realty.

In 2013, Sen. Langer was elected to the South Dakota House of Representatives where she served until 2017 when she was elected to the South Dakota Senate where she serves as Majority Whip. She is also an active member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Sen. Langer has cosponsored legislation focusing on significantly improving educational and economic opportunities for all South Dakotans.

In addition to Sen. Langer’s work in the legislature, she remains active on numerous committees. Her involvement includes serving as the Chair of the Local Government Committee, as a member of the Legislative Procedure Committee, as a member of the Judiciary Committee and as a member of the State Affairs Committee.

In her personal life, she and her husband, Tracy, have two sons, Cole and Grant. She is a member of Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and was active in the Dell Rapids Baseball Association and the Dell Rapids Athletic Booster Club.
