ALEC-FreedomWorks Legislator of the Week

Georgia Senator Joshua McKoon is a native Georgian and was born in Columbus, Georgia. He received his B.A. from Furman University and his J.D. from the University Of Alabama School Of Law. In addition to his work in the legislature, he works as an attorney for the McKoon Law Firm. 

 

In 2010, Sen. McKoon was elected to the Georgia State Senate where he currently represents District 29. He is also an active member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). In addition to his work in the legislature, Sen. McKoonis active on numerous committees. He’s a member of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee, the Ethics Committee, the Insurance and Labor Committee, the Judiciary Committee and serves as the Secretary of the Regulated Industries and Utilities Committee.

 

Outside of the legislature, Senator McKoon serves on the board of directors for the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, the Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court, Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Greater Columbus, and the Urban League of Greater Columbus. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Columbus, the State Bar of Georgia, the Alabama State Bar, and the Knights of Columbus Council #1019 at St. Anne Church.  He is married to the former Jacqueline Byrd.
