ALEC-FreedomWorks Legislator of the Week

Senator Kim Thatcher is a long-time Oregonian joining the Oregon State House of Representatives in 2004. She is currently serving her first term representing the 13th Senate District in Oregon and resides in Keizer, OR with her husband, Karl, and her teenage son. She is the mother of four, and grandmother of five. Sen. Thatcher is an avid contributor to her community as a church volunteer, Cubmaster, and member of three Chambers of Commerce.

She works most frequently on crime and law enforcement and government transparency bills. In addition to her legislative work, Sen. Thatcher is Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee and a member of the Government Accountability Committee, and Joint Legislative Audits Committee. She likes to read, play piano and travel in her free time. An interesting feat accomplished by Sen. Thatcher is that she is an instrument-rated certified pilot of small airplanes.
