Senator Don Huffines was born in Dallas, TX as a fifth generation Texan. He currently serves as a 1st term senator in the Texas Legislature representing the 16th district, which encompasses the North half of Dallas County. He engages most frequently on law, economics and public finance and crime and law enforcement bills.
Senator Huffines believes that in order to attain liberty and prosperity as a country we must foster private charity and personal responsibility. Instead of turning to the government for solutions, he believes Texans can work together to solve most challenges. As a state Senator, he prioritizes issues of personal and economic liberty, transportation, budget transparency, border security and limiting the size and growth of government.
Senator Huffines graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a finance degree. In 1985, Senator Huffines and his twin brother, Phillip, started Huffines Communities, one of the largest real estate land development companies in Dallas-Fort Worth. Senator Huffines and his wife of 30 years, Mary Catherine, have raised five children in Dallas.
