Senator Jim Buck is a native of Indiana and was born in Logansport. He received his B.A., B.S., and M.B.A from Indiana Wesleyan University and attended Toccoa Falls Bible College. Before Sen. Buck entered the legislature he was a tool and die mold maker and had a successful career as a real estate broker.
In 1994, Sen. Buck was elected into the Indiana House of Representatives where he served until 2008 when he was elected into the Indiana State Senate where he currently represents the 21st District. Sen. Buck is an active member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and serves as the 2017 National Chairman. Previously he served as the ALEC Chair for the Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force as well as the ALEC State Chair for Indiana. Sen. Buck has supported and co-authored legislation that focuses on creating a balanced budget and utilizing free market and free enterprise solutions to increase economic growth in the state Indiana.
In addition to Sen. Buck’s work, he remains active on numerous committees. His involvement includes serving as the Chair of the Local Government Committee, serving as a member of the Civil Law Committee and serving as a member of the Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee.
In his personal life Sen. Buck is involved in his community as the Vice-President of the We Care Board, the Learning Network Board, Masonic Lodge #93 and the Rotary Club. He and his wife Judy live in Kokomo, Indiana and have five grown children.
