ALEC Unveils 2026 Agenda: Lee Schalk in State Affairs & LaPolitics Weekly

ALEC remains steadfast in its mission to equip state leaders with practical solutions that strengthen liberty and opportunity for the next 250 years.

ALEC Senior Vice President of Policy Lee Schalk recently authored an op-ed in State Affairs & LaPolitics Weekly about the key policy priorities ALEC is focusing on in 2026 as America celebrates its 250th anniversary.

As the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the American Legislative Exchange Council is renewing its commitment to the principles that make the United States the greatest nation on Earth: limited government, free markets and federalism.

Since ALEC’s founding in 1973, we have worked with elected officials and private sector leaders to develop policy solutions for all Americans.

To that end, ALEC has released its 2026 edition of Essential Policy Solutions, as well as 70 new model policies approved during the ALEC States & Nation Policy Summit in December. These resources for state legislators will empower states to shape America’s future — after all, the states are the laboratories of democracy.

As America approaches its semiquincentennial, ALEC remains steadfast in its mission to equip state leaders with practical solutions that strengthen liberty and opportunity for the next 250 years.
