Done Properly, Artificial Intelligence Could Have Tremendous Benefits: Jake Morabito on the Mike Hayes Show

I believe there will be positive benefits of this technology and it would be a mistake for governments to outlaw generative AI entirely.

ALEC Communications and Technology Task Force Director Jake Morabito was recently featured on the Mike Hayes Show on WIZM Radio in LaCrosse, WI talking about the need for states to move cautiously in regulating ChatGPT and other generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The winners out of this new AI innovation are going to be those that allow their employees, business people, and consumers to aid their existing work, not to replace it outright. Done properly, ChatGPT and other generative AI could allow us to be more productive at our jobs and free up some of the more menial tasks and allow us to do other high value skills at our jobs, allowing us to serve customers in better ways.

While there is a risk of bad actors using this new technology in unscrupulous ways, such as creating cyber security risks, that doesn’t mean we should regulate it wholesale.

I believe there will be positive benefits of this technology in education, and it would be a mistake for governments to outlaw generative AI entirely. Let’s face it, our kids are going to grow up in a world where this technology exists.
