Passing Tax Reform: Advice from NC State Rep. Saine

As Congress goes about the hard work of drafting a tax bill that will pass both chambers, it should take a lesson from states that have successfully implemented tax reform. In 2013, North Carolina reduced taxes and put more money back into the pockets of its citizens. By doing so, the Tar Heel state ranks #3 in the economic outlook according to Rich States, Poor States. One of the leaders driving the bill through the state legislature was North Carolina Finance Co-chair, Representative Jason Saine of Lincolnton. Representative Saine is the incoming national chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).  He offers advice to his federal colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee:

“Put on your ear muffs, move forward because you know you are right. This is what American needs to be competitive. This is our opportunity to put America first again and we can do it through reforming our tax code.”
