Lee Schalk, ALEC VP of Policy, appeared on Talk of the Town radio to discuss North Carolina’s recent ranking as fourth in the country for economic outlook and 11th in performance based on the latest edition of Rich States, Poor States.
For 17 years, Rich States, Poor States has shown us a roadmap of what’s working and what’s not working at the state level. I think at the heart of the report, what we really believe, and I think what the report demonstrates is that the states are competing with one another when it comes to economic policy in their efforts to attract job creators and new residents.
North Carolina did very well in the report again this year, where we looked at things like income tax rates, worker freedom policies, government spending, all of the factors going into the state’s economic outlook.
