Executive Assistant

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the nation’s largest nonpartisan, individual membership association of state legislators, seeks an Executive Assistant to perform a variety of administrative tasks and support our organization’s executive team.

The Executive Assistant will report to the C-Suite and serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the executive team.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Act as the point of contact among executives, employees, clients and other external partners
  • Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manage executives’ calendars and set up meetings
  • Make travel and accommodation arrangements
  • Rack daily expenses and prepare weekly, monthly or quarterly reports
  • Format information for internal and external communication – memos, emails, presentations, reports
  • Take minutes during meetings
  • Screen and direct phone calls and distribute correspondence
  • Organize and maintain the office filing system

Specific qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem solving with strong decision making capability
  • Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
  • Strong commitment to ALEC’s mission of promoting the principles of free markets, limited government, and federalism
  • Creative, entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to work collaboratively among team
  • Demonstrates ability to manage a high volume of work with a high level of integrity
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point), and Adobe Acrobat
