Biography
Dawn Draayer leads the Development Department at the American Legislative Exchange Council, overseeing individual and foundation fundraising.
She brings more than 20 years of fundraising experience to this role, having raised more than $50 million throughout her career supporting healthcare, higher education, the arts and culture, and anti-poverty programs in addition to public policy. She has secured major and transformative gifts throughout her career by building authentic donor relationships aligned with institutional missions. She previously served as Senior Director at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Her first career was in finance, where she worked as a global insurance analyst at Standard & Poor’s.
A graduate of Cornell University, Dawn earned a bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies and studied Indonesian language at Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana in Java, Indonesia, and Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
When not connecting with donors, she enjoys working out and social dancing, including salsa, bachata, and kizomba, as well as following current affairs.
