Biography
Kenny Stein is the Energy, Environment and Agriculture Task Force Director at the American Legislative Exchange Council. Prior to joining ALEC, he ran the Regulatory Action Center at FreedomWorks. Before that, he spent over five years working for Senator Ted Cruz in various roles, including several years as Legislative Counsel for Senator Cruz’s US Senate office working primarily on energy, environment and agriculture policy. Before and during his time with Senator Cruz, he has been active in both state and national politics and campaigns.
Kenny received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston and his B.A. in International Relations from American University. A native Texan, he continues to root for his hometown Houston professional sports teams. He is an avid athlete and enjoys spending his free time playing various field sports and training and competing in endurance races including marathons and Ironman triathlons. He has a current live streak of completing the Houston marathon every year since 2010 and intends to keep the streak going until it’s time for a knee replacement.
