State and Community Leaders Build Solutions to Strengthen Society at the 2020 ALEC Annual Meeting

Hundreds of state legislators and stakeholders will get to work

ARLINGTON, VA – (JULY 16, 2020) Hundreds of state legislators, business and thought leaders, think tank scholars and individuals will meet virtually July 15-17 for the 47th American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Annual Meeting. Attendees will share experiences and ideas and develop research-based model policies focused on limited government, free enterprise and individual liberty.

During the three-day virtual conference, participants will hear from top government officials and policy experts, participate in workshops and training sessions, share new ideas and develop research-based model policies to address today’s most pressing issues. The full capacity of ALEC will support the advancement of policies to address policing reform and create a better future for every American. ALEC members will also discuss long-term, liberty-first solutions to safely reboot American society in the wake of COVID-19. Participants will hear from speakers including Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Missouri Governor Mike Parson, Salena Zito, Stephen Moore and renowned economist Dr. Arthur B. Laffer.

“There has never been a more important time to bring together state legislators, community leaders and passionate patriots to craft solutions for the issues Americans face today,” said ALEC CEO Lisa B. Nelson. “And, there is no group more effective or determined to make those solutions happen than the principled members of ALEC. Our meeting will be the space and platform to collaborate, debate policy and prepare to implement real solutions across all 50 states.”

“Uniting state leaders to collaborate is what ALEC does best,” said ALEC National Chairman Mississippi Speaker of the House Philip Gunn. “In the midst of a year where we have been met with unprecedented challenges, the convening role of ALEC has never been more essential to our society. And it will be the ideas, experiences and solutions shared at the ALEC Annual Meeting that will build our society stronger and more resilient than ever before.”
