State and Community Leaders Come Together to Build a Roadmap for 2021

Hundreds of state legislators and stakeholders learn from 2020 for 2021

ARLINGTON, VA – (DECEMBER 2, 2020) Hundreds of state legislators, business and thought leaders, think tank scholars and individuals will meet virtually December 2-4 for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) States & Nation Policy Summit. Attendees will share experiences and ideas from 2020, as they will develop research-based model policies focused on limited government, free enterprise and individual liberty.

During the three-day virtual conference, participants from across the states will join one another to hear from top government officials and policy experts, participate in workshops and training sessions, share new ideas and develop research-based model policies to address today’s most pressing issues. ALEC members will discuss long-term, liberty-first solutions to respond to the societal challenges of COVID-19.

Participants will hear from a host of Governors – including New Hampshire Governor Sununu and Texas Governor Abbott – all of whom scored highly on the brand-new Laffer-ALEC Report on Economic Freedom. Other speakers include Reagan Economist Arthur B. Laffer, U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Scalia, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Acting Secretary Chad Wolf and FCC Chairman Ajit Pai.

“There has never been a more important year to reflect on what worked, what didn’t and what we need to focus on for next year. ALEC and its network of state legislators, community leaders and passionate patriots will craft the American solutions to ensure peace of mind and financial security,” said ALEC CEO Lisa B. Nelson. “There is no group more necessary to the rebuilding and unity of this country than the principled members of ALEC. The States & Nation Policy Summit is the space to collaborate together, debate policy and prepare to implement these needed solutions across all 50 states.”

“Uniting state leaders to collaborate is what ALEC does best,” said ALEC National Chairman Mississippi Speaker of the House Philip Gunn. “As we close a year filled with immense, unprecedented challenges, the convening role of ALEC will be even more important to the well-being of our society. We will share the lessons learned, the fights won and the challenging journeys from every corner of the country – so we can lean on one another and be the best lawmakers we can be.”

The American Legislative Exchange Council is a 501(c)(3) educational organization that provides nonpartisan research, study and analysis to state legislators, local decisionmakers and stakeholders. ALEC facilitates interaction between public and private sector leaders, think tanks and citizen groups with meetings and model policy development.
