State and National Leaders Head to Orlando for July ALEC National Meeting

Register with Confidence for the 47th ALEC Annual Meeting

ARLINGTON, VA – (May 18, 2020) Today, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) moved forward with plans to host an agenda setting, national meeting of state legislators and local elected officials in Orlando, Florida from July 15-17, 2020. As society returns to normal and state legislators create plans to ensure the economic and social recovery of the United States, ALEC will be the only major gathering of state leaders planning for the future.

ALEC CEO Lisa B. Nelson shared, “ALEC continues in its leadership role as the voice of state legislators across the states and in Washington, DC. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, ALEC shared state and federal solutions to empower states and protect people. As society returns to normal, legislators have much to share about state implementation of the COVID-19 response. And, as all Americans prepare for the new normal, state leaders need meetings like ALEC to make plans for the future.” Nelson continued, “ALEC will work within Florida and CDC guidelines to ensure the health and safety of meeting attendees.”

The ALEC Annual Meeting will take place over three days at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes from July 15-17. Participants will hear from notable opinion leaders and executives including several governors, Former Speaker Newt Gingrich and acclaimed journalist Salena Zito.

“ALEC will host the 47th Annual Meeting with the full support of legislators and stakeholders from across the states,” said Mississippi Speaker and 2020 ALEC Chairman Philip Gunn. “Legislators attend ALEC meetings to learn from one another. During these unprecedented times, a meeting like this has never been more important.”

ALEC Florida Chairman, Representative Mike LaRosa commented, “The Florida delegation is very excited to host ALEC in Orlando. Governor DeSantis and the Florida Government have taken the right steps to ensure a safe, staged reopening. Our tourism industry is also putting in place the right precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of meeting attendees. This is the right place and time for the ALEC Annual Meeting.”
