Alumni Spotlight – Fran Amos

Fran Amos first joined the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) because she had a desire for knowledge. She enjoyed meeting with lawmakers from other states and learning what policies they were working on. She understood that learning “best practices” of other states made her a better legislator.

She joined the ALEC Alumni Association because she wanted to continue learning what other states are doing to enact sound policy.

Amos currently sits on the Michigan Governor’s Commission on Community Action and Economic Opportunity. She enjoys her role because she is able to do what she loves – help people. The ALEC Alumni Association allows her to be better in her current role. At ALEC she continues to find tried and true programs that help her constituents succeed and prosper.

Amos’ passion is better serving her community, saying, “What I love most about government is that 80% of what we do is help people. More than pass laws or legislation – we help people who need us.”
