Alumni Spotlight – Jim Clark
Jim Clark was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in 1996 and immediately joined the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). At ALEC he served as the Idaho state chairman and an executive committee member on the ALEC Task Force on Tax and Fiscal Policy.
Through his involvement with the Task Force, Clark quickly became involved in Internet taxation in 1997. Clark worked with legislators from throughout the nation to develop policy against harmful and discriminatory attempts to tax e-commerce. “ALEC has led the way in protecting small businesses from economically damaging tax collection burdens,” Clark adds.
Through his work in the states, Clark was awarded the 2009 ALEC State Legislator of the Year.
Clark currently owns and operates a lobbying company that has clients in Idaho and Utah.
