The New Year invites us not only to celebrate a banner 2025 for ALEC but also to reflect on the future we are shaping in the states. I am truly in awe of what we have accomplished together and can’t wait to look back at 2026 to see how we have impacted policy in the states.
For ALEC, this past year ranks among the most successful years in our history. With record growth in private sector membership, unprecedented engagement with state legislators, collaboration with the new Administration, and more new trusted policy solutions developed than any other year, ALEC is truly firing on all cylinders. The energy is undeniable – just watch our recap video from the States & Nation Policy Summit to see what I mean.
ALEC was founded 53 years ago for a time such as this. Across the country, states are rising to the challenges of today as hubs of creative solutions, guiding the nation toward a future of freedom, competition, and prosperity. Our mission has never felt more relevant or more urgent.
Our priorities are winning, and Americans are voting with their feet in favor of opportunity. From tax reform to regulatory relief, from education freedom to energy independence, ALEC members are empowering families, entrepreneurs, and communities in their states to thrive.
Just a few short weeks ago, the Michigan House voted 106-0 to deliver hospital price transparency to patients – consistent with the ALEC Hospital Price Transparency Act. This model is one of many aimed at affordability in our new legislator guide, Essential Policy Solutions for 2026, a critical roadmap for policymakers in 2026 who understand that America’s future depends on thriving states.
With the tailwinds of a historic 2025 at our back, and the headwinds and challenges that each new year brings, it’s time to get back to work. The momentum and energy across the states are at an all-time high, and we’re already off to a fast start.
In just a few weeks, Run GenZ will convene for its One Generation Summit in Clearwater Beach, FL, with 175 attendees—an exciting reminder that the next generation of leaders is stepping up to carry forward the principles that make America strong.
