Taiwan Must Be Included in the International Community: Karla Jones in the Central News Agency

During the ALEC delegation’s recent visit to Taiwan, International Relations Senior Director Karla Jones spoke with the Central News Agency on the need to clarify Taiwan’s position in the international community.

Asked about China’s misinterpretation of UNGA Resolution 2758 to reduce Taiwan’s international space, Jones pointed out that a more comprehensive approach should be taken to clarify Taiwan’s position as an independent country; State legislatures can pass policies or bills urging the Senate to pass the Taiwan International Solidarity Act.

Jones stressed that Taiwan should be treated equally by the International Olympic Committee, “as long as Taiwan athletes win the gold medal, the Taiwan national anthem should be played and the Taiwan flag should be raised.”
