Early Intervention Program Act
Model Policy
Section 1. Title. This Act shall be known as the “Early Intervention Program Act.”
Section 2. Early Intervention Program.
(A) The State Board of Education shall select one or more technology providers, through a request for proposals process, to provide an adaptive computer software program for literacy or numeracy instruction, or both, and assessments for students in kindergarten through grade three. [1]
(B) The early intervention program includes a component to address early intervention through the use of an adaptive computer software program.
(C) On or before {inset date}, and every year thereafter, the State Board of Education shall report final testing data regarding an interactive computer software program described in Subsection (C), including student learning gains as a result of the adaptive computer software program, to:
(1) the Education Interim Committee; and
(2) the governor.
Section 3. {Severability clause.}
Section 4. {Repealer clause.}
Section 5. {Effective date.}
[1] This program does not require new funding, but should come from existing appropriations.
