American Legislative Exchange Council Kicks Off 41st Annual Meeting in Dallas
Dallas, Texas (July 30, 2014)—During the next three days, state legislators, business leaders, policy experts and citizen organizations will come together in Dallas for the 41st American Legislative Exchange Council Annual Meeting. Attendees will share experiences and ideas and develop research-based model policies focused on limited government, free markets and federalism.
“We are excited to welcome ALEC members from around the country to this year’s Annual Meeting,” said Iowa Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer, ALEC National Chair. “Every year, we look forward to this meeting as an opportunity to hear new ideas and expand our understanding of limited government, free markets and federalism.”
During the three-day conference, members will participate in training sessions and attend policy workshops and task force meetings. Attendees will also hear from several keynote speakers, including Texas Governor Rick Perry, economist Dr. Arthur Laffer, Heritage Foundation Chief Economist Steve Moore, former presidential candidate Herman Cain, former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt.
“Our Annual Meeting provides state legislators with an invaluable opportunity to work alongside their counterparts from around the country,” said Rep. Upmeyer. “Lawmakers will discuss how policies have worked in other states and learn how to apply limited government, free markets and federalism approaches to policies in their own state.”
