Texas State Representative Phil King Named Chairman of American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Center for Innovation and Technology

Rep. King Served as 2015 ALEC National Chairman

Washington, D.C. (January 27, 2016)—Texas state Representative Phil King (TX-61), the 2015 National Chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), is the new Chairman of the ALEC Center for Innovation and Technology.

The Center provides state lawmakers with guides, data, research and a structure to imagine and create a plan of action for how innovation could benefit their states. Whether improving processes, creating products or developing new ideas, the Center provides a place for breakout inspiration and examination of policy improvements. The Center is led by ALEC Vice President Bartlett Cleland.

“I am very excited about this opportunity. ALEC has always been about the future. In fact, “Breakout” was ALEC’s theme for 2015,” said Representative King. “ALEC’s mission – to bring policy makers and job creators together – is a perfect venue for the Center on Innovation and Technology.”

“Solving real problems with relevant solutions is the key to any successful public policy agenda. Innovation is just as much about identifying the problem as it is about creating the solution. To that end, the Center for Innovation and Technology considers current and potential state policy seeking breakout solutions,” said Cleland. “The Center is the resource to assist state lawmakers in positioning their state to be an innovation leader today and for the future.”
