2024 marked a remarkable milestone—the 51st year of the American Legislative Exchange Council’s tireless commitment to equipping and empowering state leaders to shape America’s future. For over half a century, ALEC has stood as a beacon of limited government, free markets, and federalism—principles that are as timeless as they are vital to preserving our republic.
As we reflect on the successes of the past year, including the conclusion of a productive States and Nation Policy Summit in Washington, D.C., where legislators introduced 32 new ALEC model policies and we unveiled our 2025 Essential Policy Solutions, it is clear that the road ahead remains filled with promise. This is no time for complacency. History teaches us that those who grow complacent are left behind while the world moves forward.
That’s why ALEC continues to prioritize innovation and collaboration. From adopting a model policy condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s misuse of international organizations to exclude Taiwan, to launching the Veterans and Military Affairs Task Force to better support those who served our nation, we remain focused on addressing the critical issues of our time. These efforts reaffirm our unwavering commitment to both freedom abroad and solutions at home.
Our reach extends to every corner of policy, from education reform to tax policy, from worker freedom to healthcare transparency. Groundbreaking reports like Rich States, Poor States, Labor Policy Reform, and the ALEC Index of State Education Freedom demonstrate our impact.
